Job Description:
Chief Human Resources Officer

Provides leadership, direction and administrative oversight for the operations of the Human Resources Division

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Leads and guides the development of hospital philosophy, approaches, and policies on compensation, benefits, employee relations and training initiatives
  • Represents hospital in contract negotiations and provides leadership to the hospital management negotiating teams. Oversees administration of labor agreements and hospital human resources policy. Consults with legal counsel on union contract issues, legal problems, lawsuits and compliance issues
  • Develops division goals and objectives and establishes and implements policies and procedures for division operations which support the overall mission, values and strategic direction of the hospital
  • Maintains a knowledge and awareness of issues and trends in human resource management, and leads the Human Resources leadership team in strategic and operational planning to meet the immediate and long-term human resources needs of the organization
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Exhibits the ability to plan and organize in a manner which others will be encouraged to excel
  • Hires, orients, trains, coaches, supervises and evaluates the performance of managers, supervisors and coordinators within the Division. Through these human resources leaders, the CHRO insures the provision of quality services through effective organization of the resources, systems and operations of each unit, individually as well as the Division as a whole
  • Leads and provides overall strategic direction for the Human Resources Division, which includes the Human Resources, Employee Health & Wellness, Staff & Physician Education departments
  • Leads and guides the development of hospital philosophy, approaches, and policies on compensation, benefits, employee relations and training initiatives


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • Masters Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business, Behavioral Sciences or related field required
  • SPHR Certification preferred
  • Certification in Health Care Administration preferred


EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in human resources management, with at least three (3) current years in a hospital setting required
  • Knowledge and success in the areas of labor relations and personnel law; ability to gain consensus and commitment to common objectives, beyond organization requirements, which are attained with the experience of contribution and satisfaction on part of the work team
